Airline Baggage Fees

Checked Bags:

The following major airlines currently charge an extra fee each time bags are checked with that airline. For passengers whose tickets are sold as a codeshare flight, operating and/or marketing carrier fees may apply. For other airlines, please check that carrier's website for detailed information concerning that carrier's baggage fee policy.

Snacks & Meals:

The table below outlines currently known charges for snack and/or meals.

General Notes:

  • These fees are not included in your total trip cost when purchasing tickets on our site and are collected by the airline. Baggage and Meal policies and fees are subject to change by the airlines at any time. Please see the airline's Web site for the most current information.
  • Some airlines may not charge any additional fees for meals or checking bags when passengers have certain status in their mileage or loyalty programs.
  • Extra charges apply each way on select flights.

International

  • Economy Class - the United States (including San Juan and the U.S. Virgin Islands) and Europe - 1st bag free, 2nd bag $50: Passengers traveling from CDG and AMS will not be subject to this fee
  • Economy Class - All other international travel - 1st bag free, 2nd bag free
  • Economy class checked baggage allowance above is applicable to reservations booked on or after May 23, 2009 for travel on or after July 1, 2009
  • Economy class checked baggage weight allowance is 50 lb. and maximum size of 62 linear inches. Over those limits, extra fees apply.

Exclusions on Baggage Policy:

  • First and Business Class passengers - First Class and Elite Baggage Allowance: The aligned policy allows three free checked bags up to 70lbs each for customers booked in First Class or Business Class
  • SkyMiles/WorldPerks Elite members (Executive/ Platinum/ Gold/ Silver, including Flying Colonels)
  • Active duty military members traveling on orders
  • Passengers who booked international economy tickets prior to April 21, 2009 will not be charged 2nd bag fee
  • Passengers who are confirmed on a Full Y class Economy ticket.
